The Overture Division is open to all students of all ages, comfortable with Suzuki Book 1 Perpetual Motion or equivalent level of difficulty. Weekly attendance in group lessons and individual instruction is preferred. Repertoire will be chosen from grade levels 1 and is selected to develop basic skills in ensemble playing. This division will perform 2-3 pieces per semester and learn the material step by step.

Andrew Bailey grew up in Jefferson City, Missouri playing in the local Jefferson City Symphony Orchestra holding principal second and assistant concertmaster positions. He graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance. While at Southeast Missouri State University, he studied under Dr. Brandon Christensen and Dr. Sophia Han. He has taught violin and viola lessons at Southeast Missouri State University’s Music Academy since 2015. He also has co-taught and led Suzuki Group classes, chamber orchestra, and sectionals. Mr. Bailey pursued Suzuki Certification in 2017 in Violin Book I from Edmund Sprunger and Violin Book II from Kathleen Spring. Mr. Bailey is committed to his continuing education and research in the field.
Mr. Bailey is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Violin Performance from Austin Peay University in Clarksville, TN under the tutelage of Dr. Emily Crane.
In addition to teaching, Mr. Bailey participated in the Southern Illinois Music Festival and was an administrative assistant and co-Music Librarian while participating in Festival Suoni d’Abruzzo in Italy for two years.
